DAY 1 /30

Today is hopefully the beginning of a 30 day juice fast...or something very similar. The longest I have juiced is 7 days, and I have done several other smaller fasts in the past 6 months or so. I do still drink coffee...I know it's not good and when I'm ready I will stop.

I am trying to not be too 'all or nothing' about this. I have a horrible habit of being 'all or nothing' in many areas of my life...I have eaten 100% raw for six weeks, but once I eat something cooked I am completely off raw foods. The same with juice fasting. I consume something solid, feel like I fail, overeat, then start again a different day. Not this time. My desire is to look at the whole picture...even if I fail and eat a burrito, I want my next meal to be juice for the next 30 days.

I am also considering homemade vegetable broth and homemade almond milk if I feel the need. I will take it as I go and feel whats right for me. I know that's not exactly a 'juice fast' but I happily let go of the constraints of any title in my search for balance. Maybe I should call this my '30 day cleanse'. At the moment I want to 'juice feast' and drink about a gallon of fresh juice a day. I also hope to dry brush every morning and an occasional enema. I also need to be disciplined enough to meditate daily and stretch!

Today I enjoyed:
1 cup coffee ( I know, I know)
12oz orange juice
few fresh raspberries at the farmers market
32oz green juice (lettuce, celery, cilantro, apple, chard, cucumber)
16oz grapefruit, apple, berry juice
32oz same green juice
16oz same fruit juice
lots o' water

I struggled in the morning because I didn't have time to juice before leaving to the farmers market. Luckily they had fresh squeezed orange juice there! My kids feasted on $8 worth of berries and I tasted a few of the giant raspberries:) I juiced when we got home. My energy level has been ok, but I was pretty grouchy today. I recently weaned my 2yo and have been kind of emotional, hopefully my hormones will balance out soon:)

I have been vegetarian for 16 years (I'm 32), but the quality of my diet has varied a lot. I have always struggled with weight and gained a lot in the past 10 years. I have two sons, currently 2yo & 4.5yo, and I am proud to be a homemaker:)

Today I weighed in at 245lbs...I am 5'6"
I have lost 21lbs since Feb., but, yeah, I need to lose a few more...
